a relatively affordable example of an immensely rare strip; conservatively cataloged as three pen-cancelled singles (the used value for a pair and single is $36,000.00). (Image) |

#6b, 1c Blue, Ty. Ic, position 96R4, "F" relief, a most impressively margined example of this rare and distinctive type, being from position 96R4 which is one of
two positions which produced the best examples of stamps with Ty. Ic characteristics, the bottom ornaments are virtually complete at bottom like the extremely rare Ty. I, but the right plume is partially incomplete, possessing huge and wonderfully
well balanced margins all around, intensely rich color and impression on bright paper which contributes to this stamp's outstanding eye appeal, three neat horizontal pen stokes cancellation, extremely fine; without question this is one of the finest
examples of this rare type we have encountered in quite some time. (Image) |

light and unobtrusive town c.d.s. at bottom center, right stamp with trivial facial rub caused by natural paper inclusion on reverse, the left stamp (Ty. Ic) is a marvelous gem, overall very fine and extraordinarily choice; listed but unpriced in the
Scott Specialized catalogue; ex-Ishikawa (where it was acquired by the consignor for $6,000.00, plus the 10% buyer's premium, in 1993). (Image) |
