Extensive balance of the patriotic cover collection formed by David Makinson, over 270 coverc, nearly every one is different, when two similar designs are present, one usually has a different color, imprint or other feature, wide range of
subject matters, of course there are plenty of Flags, Eagles, Shields, Lady Liberty, etc., but also several Generals and military figures, including one Lincoln, plus many Southern caricatures featuring a range of thematics, many scarce design
present, with a number being from the famous Walcott collection, slightly mixed quality but overall in far better condition than what one usually encounters in a patriotic cover collection, nearly all with at least fine appearance and a large number
possessing very fine and attractive appearance; patriotic cover collections in this size and scope are rarely offered today. |
