centered for this notoriously difficult issue, full o.g., clearly defined grills, top pair with minor h.r.'s, bottom pair lightly hinged, bottom right stamp with minute marginal tear at right center of little consequence, overall very fine.An
enormously rare and desirable mint block of four, the largest known multiple of this stamp. According to our records there are only four mint blocks of four which remain intact today (there was a fifth block in the 1998 sale of the Robert Zoellner
collection, however it has subsequently been broken into singles), rendering this as one of the rarest mint multiples in 19th century U.S. philately. This particular block was once part of the famous Caspary block of eight which was broken into two
