#89, 10c Green, "E" grill, a stunning unused example which possesses margins of extraordinary proportions for any grilled stamp, let alone this rare value,
wonderfully well centered amid these immense margins, especially deep luxuriant color and impression contribute further to this stamp's stunning overall appearance, fully intact perforations all around, an extremely fine gem; a most remarkable stamp
whose equal will be challenging to find; 2000 (for a pair) and 2006 PF certificates, as well as a 2009 PSE certificate (XF-Superb 95 Jumbo; SMQ $5,450.00 as 95 and $7,750.00 as 98); the highest graded, by far, mint or unused Scott #89 in the PSE
Population Report, the next highest being only grading a 50. (Image) |

#92, 1c Blue, "F" grill, an absolutely superb example of a stamp that is seldom seen mint, let alone in this most remarkable condition, possessing every physical
attribute that the most demanding condition conscious collector could hope for, including flawless centering amid lavishly large margins, an overall brilliance unlike any other we have seen, absolutely radiant color and a strong impression on
immaculate paper, pristine full o.g., lightly hinged, extremely fine; the epitome of a condition rarity in this incomparable quality; 1999 and 2006 PF certificates, as well as a 2009 PSE certificate (XF-Superb 95; SMQ $16,700.00); one of only two
mint examples of Scott #92 to grade 95, the highest grade awarded to date; ex-McKinney. (Image) |

#94, 3c Red, "F" grill, impressive mint example, possessing uncharacteristically large and marvelously well balanced margins all around, considerably deeper color
than usual, uniformly even and intact perforations, full o.g., relatively lightly hinged, extremely fine; a terribly scarce stamp in this outstanding condition and, in our opinion, woefully undercataloged considering how few truly nice mint examples
are offered; 1989 PF certificate; ex-Lyons. (Image) |

#95, 5c Brown, "F" grill, superbly centered for this difficult stamp, with much larger margins than usual, with no portion of the design being impinged by
perforations (a rarely seen occurrence on this typically tightly margined stamp), gloriously rich color in a deep shade, excellent impression as well, large part o.g. (virtually full o.g.), extremely fine; an especially scarce and desirable mint
stamp in this gem quality; 1982 and 2005 PF certificates, as well as a 2009 PSE certificate (XF 90; SMQ $9,200.00), the highest grade awarded to any original gum example (full o.g. or part o.g.), and one of only two to have been given this
grade; ex-Chapin. (Image) |

#98, 15c Black, "F" grill, an outstanding unused example that possesses incredible centering that is rarely encountered on this notoriously difficult stamp, strong

#101, 90c Blue, "F" grill, flawlessly centered, deep luxuriant color and an excellent clarity of impression on wonderfully fresh paper, full clean original gum, lightly
hinged, an extremely fine gem in every regard. The 1868 Ninety Cent "F" grill with original gum is an enormously rare and difficult stamp. To find one that is sound, with original gum and possessing truly extremely fine centering is an almost
impossible task. In fact, we believe there are only two existing stamps that can be unequivocally described as extremely fine original gum examples - the magnificent copy offered here - and the example sold in the May 1986 sale of the James O. Hewitt
collection by Steve Ivy Philatelic Auctions (which this describer wrote up). The latter stamp, to our knowledge, has not appeared on the auction market since that sale.A rare opportunity to acquire a stamp that is missing in virtually every mint
collection, no matter how comprehensive, for example even the impressive collections formed by Messrs. Weisman, Zoellner, Lyons, Floyd and Lessin did not have a single example of an original gum Ninety Cent "F" Grill, let alone one in this
outstanding quality. Accompanied by 1985, 1993 and 1999 PF certificates; ex-Morris, Golin. (Image) |

#103, 2c Black re-issue, a fabulous quality mint example of this rare and popular re-issue, possessing not only perfect centering amid extravagantly large
margins, but its overall freshness and brilliance is unlike any other we have ever seen, with color and impression that would rival any proof on crisp white paper, full clean o.g., a superb gem in every regard; one of the most beautiful original
gum examples in existence, and of the 979 sold we doubt no more than four or five of this number can compare in quality to this remarkable stamp; 1988 and 2001 PF certificates, as well as a 2009 PSE certificate (XF-Superb 95; SMQ $16,800.00);

#105, 5c Brown re-issue, magnificently centered amid enormously large margins, incredibly deep and luxuriant color, prooflike impression on bright paper, even its
perforations are unusually full and intact all around, full clean o.g., lightly hinged, a superb stamp in every regard. This stunning gem possesses outstanding overall eye-appeal, in addition to boasting physical qualities that are almost
impossible to improve upon. Of the 672 sold of this value, we cannot imagine this stamp is not among the finest available.Accompanied by 1988 and 1998 PF certificates and a 2007 PSE certificate (XF-Superb 95; SMQ $14,400.00); one of only eight
copies to have been assigned a 95 grade, with only one grading slightly higher (95J). (Image) |

#106, 10c Green re-issue, nearly flawless centering, with lavishly large and marvelously well balanced margins all around, intense rich color and a crisp
impression, large and intact perforations all around, full o.g., lightly hinged, an extremely fine gem.The example of this rare stamp is, without question, among the very finest we have ever had the pleasure to offer in our auctions. It combines
all of the physical characteristics that one hopes to find but are rarely encountered on the majority of the 1875 Re-Issues of the 1861-66 Issues. Its centering nears perfection, its margins are of extraordinary size and its color and impression
would rival any proof. To top it all off, it possesses full clean original gum that has been only lightly hinged. Of the 451 sold of this value, this must surely rank as one of the finest existing examples.Accompanied by 1985 and 1998 PF
certificates, as well as a 2009 PSE certificate (XF-Superb 95; SMQ $15,500.00); one of only three stamps to have been awarded a 95 grade, with only two grading higher (98). (Image) |

#107, 12c Black re-issue, a gem mint example possessing virtually perfect centering amid very large margins, plus its color and impression could not be more
prooflike on bright paper, full o.g., relatively lightly hinged, extremely fine and exceedingly choice. In recent years the rarity of gem quality original gum examples of the 1875 Re-issues have become more appreciated and is reflected in
increasingly impressive auction realizations they attract. When an original gum example appears at auction that boasts all of the physical attributes even the most demanding condition conscious collector could hope for, the competition is fierce and
the final realizations quite impressive. The copy offered here is the perfect stamp for the collector assembling their set of 1861 Re-issues one select stamp at at time. Easily one of the very finest available of the 397 issued.Accompanied by
1971 and 2003 PF certificates, as well as a 2009 PSE certificate (XF-Superb 95; SMQ $20,200.00); one of only three examples to have been assigned a 95 grade, with only two grading slightly higher (95J); ex-Chapin.

#109, 24c Deep violet re-issue, an exceptional mint example of this rare and notoriously difficult re-issue, being in a quality that places it among the finest of the
346 sold, possessing exceptional physical attributes that are rarely associated with this value, including being incredibly well centered within uncharacteristically large margins, gloriously rich color and a deeply etched impression on bright
paper, full fresh o.g. which is another characteristic that is most unusual (as most are found either with toned gum or without any gum at all), lightly hinged, extremely fine; this gem has consistently realized considerably more than its catalog
value each time it has appeared at auction; 1991 and 2003 PF certificates, as well as a 2009 PSE certificate (VF-XF 85; SMQ $10,900.00); ex-Floyd, Chapin. (Image) |

#110, 30c Brownish orange re-issue, the mint example offered here is, without question, among the finest available of the mere 346 sold, as this
particular copy is the beneficiary of extraordinary physical characteristics which are rarely encountered on this terribly challenging stamp, including being magnificently well centered amid margins that are quite lavish for this, in fact, its
perforations clear the design all around which is an extremely rare occurrence on this value, plus its color is spectacularly rich and intense, while its impression could not be more deeply incised on bright white paper, full o.g. which is uncommonly
clean and free of the disturbances so often seen on the re-issues, lightly hinged, an extremely fine gem; the perfect stamp for the collector assembling a complete set of re-issues in the finest attainable quality; 1998 PF certificate. (Image) |

#111, 90c Blue re-issue, a fabulous quality mint example of this re-issue rarity, boasting numerous extraordinary physical characteristics, including being fresh
and bright, with truly prooflike color and impression on immaculate paper, magnificently centered amid very large margins, full clean o.g. that has been lightly hinged, extremely fine gem.The Ninety Cent Re-issue, while unquestionably rare with
only 317 sold, presents an additional challenge to collectors attempting to assemble a complete set of truly exceptional quality 1875 Re-issues. While it is well known that the Twenty-Four and Thirty Cent values are particularly difficult to find in
gem condition due to their characteristically small margins, what is not so well known is just how hard it is to find a Ninety Cent value in premium original gum condition. Its typically wider margins would suggest that finding one in premium
condition would not be that difficult. And yet, nearly every major mint collection offered over the past ten years either did not have an example of this stamp in any condition, or if they did it invariably had either no gum or inferior centering.
Important name collections such as Golin, Floyd, Lessin, McKinney - and even the recent sale of the Whitman collection - did not have an example that could truly be described as an extremely fine gem.Accompanied by 1970 and 2003 PF certificates,
as well as a 2009 PSE certificate (XF 90; SMQ $14,600.00); to confirm just how rare this stamp is in premium condition, this is the highest grade yet given to any Scott #111 by the PSE, and it is the sole copy to receive this grade;
