VERY FINE. AN EXCEPTIONALLY RARE MINT NEVER-HINGED EXAMPLE OF THE 1917 12-CENT PERF 10 AT TOP. ONE OF ONLY FOUR UNUSED STAMPS RECORDED IN OUR CENSUS AND MOST LIKELY THE ONLY MINT NEVER-HINGED EXAMPLE.
Our unpublished census of Scott 512b contains 12 used and four unused stamps, which at one time constituted a block of four. This stamp is from the bottom right of the block and is most likely the only Mint N.H. example. The stamps from the left of the block still form a pair. The bottom stamp of the pair is lightly hinged and the hinging on the top stamp extends to the right perfs, making it likely that the fourth stamp from the block (upper right) is hinged as well.
Unpublished Census No. 512b-OG-01. Ex Georgetown. With copy of 1980 P.F. certificate for the block. Scott Retail as hinged (Image)

FINE AND RARE. ONLY TWELVE COPIES OF THE 1917 12-CENT PERF 10 AT TOP OR BOTTOM ARE RECORDED IN OUR CENSUS.
Our census of Scott 512b contains 12 used and four unused stamps, which at one time constituted a block of four (See lot 2085 for the Mint N.H. single from the block). Of the twelve used stamps at least five have faults and two others have older certificates and should be checked for condition.
Unpublished Census No. 512b-CAN-08. Ex Twigg-Smith. With 1991 P.S.E. certificate (Image)

Our updated census of Scott 512b contains 12 used and four unused stamps, which at one time constituted a block of four (See lot 2085 for the Mint N.H. single from the block). Of the twelve used stamps at least five have faults and two others have older certificates and should be checked for condition.
