Allen" in Honolulu, Sandwich Islands (Hawaii), stamp with pre-use corner crease and some gum soaked perfs, small top flap tear VERY FINE APPEARANCE. AN EXCEPTIONALLY RARE EXAMPLE OF THE 1857 10-CENT TYPE IV ON COVER TO HAWAII FROM THE ALLEN CORRESPONDENCE. Several covers from the Allen correspondence from the East Coast to Hawaii were overweight and are franked with two 10c stamps. Others are known with one 10c stamp and a "10" due marking, such as the example offered here. This is the only example of the 1857 10c Ty. IV to Hawaii we have encountered.
