FINE APPEARANCE. AN EXCITING 1866 -1/2-ANNA PROVISIONAL WITH DOUBLE OVERPRINT. A STRIKING ERROR ESPECIALLY SO AS A PAIR.

3431° nhbl ImageINDIA, 1883-97, 1a Maroon, Official, Horizontal Pair, One Overprint Omitted (SG O40c; Scott O28 var). Mint N.H. se-tenant block of twelve with part gutter at top and selvage at right, containing two errors within the center block, fourth vertical pair with albino overprint, pos. 3 additionally showing the without stop after "S" variety, slight creasing on right vertical pair and one stamp with light pencil marks

EXTREMELY FINE. A STUNNING INDIA OFFICIAL SHOWPIECE OF THE ONE-ANNA "ON H.M.S." OVERPRINT WITH MISSING OVERPRINT.

The only other example is a strip of six with the fourth position showing a partial overprint (ex Rose-Hutchinson). A truly spectacular multiple and wonderful addition to any India Official collection.

Ex Hailsham. With 1998 Holcombe and 2011 B.P.A. certificate. SG value as two pairs which doesn't accurately represent the magnitude and value of this rare item. (Image)
